My name is Gail Layne Reams Swain and "Nick" was my uncle. Herman Lee Reams, my father and Nick's brother, died when I was 18 mos old. Uncle Luther and Aunt Dolly lived in my mother (Thelma) and step father's neghborhood in Bon Air, Richmond and we would visit every Christmas. I believe Nick was at Uncle Luther's funeral and that would have been the last time that I saw him.
After my dad died, Luther, Nick and Sam would visit with mounds of gifts from the family to my mother and sister (Diane) and me every Christmas. That was so special for us. I didn't realize that Nick lived in Williamsburg. We have been here for 35 years. Grandmother and Granddad Reams were very special to us. As youngsters, mother would take us to see them. I really didn't know my dad since I was so young when he died, but mother tried to keep that connection for us.
I share your grief for your brother, father and friend even though I was not fortunate to know him very well but I knew Uncle Luther and my grandparents and know what a wonderful family that I am a part of. Thank you for letting me connect with the family. Sincerely, Gail Reams Swain
