Marion Shay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2014.

SHAY

Marion, age 88, passed peacefully into eternal life on July 6, 2014 following a long illness. She was born August 3, 1925 in Jersey City, NJ to Howard and Bessie Ellis, and was preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband William Shay. She is survived by daughter Eileen Moulton and son-in-law Don Moulton of Dallas, TX, son Robert Shay and daughter-in-law Sue Shay of Hockessin, DE and grandsons Kris and Kevin Shay also of Hockessin.
Marion was a long-time resident of Westwood, NJ and moved to Dallas, TX in 2007. She was a vibrant woman with a keen sense of humor, infectious laugh and radiant smile. She was a wonderful cook and dancer, and loved nothing more than spending time with family, friends and any dog that might cross her path. Her homes in New Jersey and coastal North Carolina were her little bits of heaven on earth.
She was a warm and generous woman who was sustained by her deep faith. Marion made friends easily and her many life-long friends were deeply precious to her and became part of her extended family.
If desired, donations may be made to St. Joseph's School for the Blind in Jersey City (761 Summit Ave, Jersey City NJ 07307, website clcnj.org) or to a charity of the giver's choice. Visitation will be 3-5 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood on Sunday, July 13; a service will be held 1 pm on Monday, July 14 at the funeral home followed by interment at George Washington Park in Paramus.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staffs of both Lexington Place and Hospice Plus in Dallas for their loving and compassionate care during her final days.
"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered 'Come to Me'."

My long lost friend....we spent so many years together sharing and caring. You really became an extended member of my family and we all shared many holidays and memories together! I have missed you for a long time and I feel comfort in knowing that you are with Bill and Family. Finally free to be who you always were. Loving, devoted and as true as a person can be. You continue to touch me daily as anyone who knows me also knows you even it they never met you. We will continue your legacy of love and laughter! Always, Susan
