Obituary

Marjorie Trussell Anthony, 93, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, 106 Cynthia Street, Clinton, MS. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM. Burial at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Anthony was born Mary Marjorie Lou Trussell on May 18, 1918, in the Bankston Community of Choctaw County, MS, to John Emmitt and Naomi McCarty Trussell. Marjorie Trussell Anthony, 93, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Anthony was born Mary Marjorie Lou Trussell on May 18, 1918, in the Bankston Community of Choctaw County, MS, to John Emmitt and Naomi McCarty Trussell. She was married to Richard Lee Anthony on June 16, 1939.

A long time resident of West Point, MS, she and Richard were well known owners of the West Point Jewelry and Gift Shop. After selling the jewelry store, they opened West Point Optical. Following retirement, she and Richard moved to Clinton to be close to their daughter Gwen in 1991. A member of the First Baptist Church of Clinton for many years, she was a faithful member of the Joy Makers Choir and Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She moved to Madison in 2010 where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Madison and the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years on April 27, 2001; son, Dr. Robin Anthony; grandson, Rob Anthony; great-granddaughter, Lara Brubaker; and great-grandson Austin Anthony.

Survivors include son, Dr. Larry Anthony (Wanda) of Starkville; daughter, Gwendolyn Cullinane (John) of Madison; two sisters: Hayzell Brakefield of Jasper, AL and Juanita Hamby of Grenada; five grandchildren: Alison Brubaker (John) of Greensboro, NC; Dr. Drew Anthony (Kelli), Cory Anthony (Joan) of Starkville; Susan Patterson (Jared) of Memphis, TN; Vicki Stebbins (Frank) of Madison; and Dr. Tim Cullinane (Christa) of Easton, PA; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Village, First Baptist Church of Madison - A Time to Build Campaign, or your favorite charity."
