Franklin – Marjorie W. Harmon of Franklin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 27, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 30, 1933 in Franklin NY, the daughter of Edna Denny and Stanley Woodard. Marge graduated from Franklin Central School in 1951. She later was employed as a secretary at the Bendix Corporation in the Quality Control office . She married John Harmon at the Franklin United Methodist Church on May 20, 1956. Franklin – Marjorie W. Harmon of Franklin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 27, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on October 30, 1933 in Franklin NY, the daughter of Edna Denny and Stanley Woodard.

Marge graduated from Franklin Central School in 1951. She later was employed as a secretary at the Bendix Corporation in the Quality Control office . She married John Harmon at the Franklin United Methodist Church on May 20, 1956.

Marge was a former member of the Ouleout Eastern Stars in Franklin. She worked on the Election Board for the town of Franklin for 23 years. She was a former member of the Franklin Firemen Auxiliary and the Delaware County Firemen Auxiliary. Marge served as Cub Scout leader for many years and a 4H leader and Cadette Girl Scout leader.

In 1953 Marge and her sister, Joyce purchased land on Goodyear Lake. It was a family project with everyone working on building the camp. She enjoyed teaching her children to swim and enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family.

She was a loving mother and devoted to her children and grandchildren. She always attended her children and grandchildren's sports and activities at the school. She will be dearly missed.

Marge is survived by her son David Harmon, daughters Janet Harmon and Cheryl Harmon, her grandchildren who were her pride and joy Steven, Christopher and Matthew Dyke, her sister Joyce and (Paul) Worden, and several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents and brother, Robert Woodard.

Friends may call on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, 425 Main Street, Franklin. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. funeral home with Dr. Walt Schlundt, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin.

It was Marge's wish that her grandchildren further their education by graduating from college. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a college fund for her grandchildren in memory of Marge.
