Marjorie E. (Reed) Wirth, 82, of Dayton, OH, passed away on Jan 8th, 2018.
Marjorie E. Reed Wirth was a remarkable woman by anyone's standards. She was known for her enormous heart, especially when it came to meeting the needs of children. Margie, as many knew her, was extensively active in the community, had been a school teacher for 37 years, belonged to numerous local organizations & had a very deep faith in God. She was deeply loved by her family & friends. She'll be missed beyond measure by those who were fortunate enough to have ever known her. Margie graduated from University of Dayton with her Master of Science in Education. She taught 2nd grade for 9 years, then 1st grade for 9 years in Franklin City Schools. From there, she taught 1st grade in Lakota Local Schools for 19 years. After her retirement, Margie continued helping children in so many ways. She volunteered in the classroom in Kettering City Schools, did work with the "Backpack Program" & Girl Scouts. Marge's goal was to work toward improving the lives of children. One of her most notable statements was (to) "put a book in the hands of every child & a meal in their tummy". Her strong passion for teaching every child to read & cultivate their love of learning has undoubtedly led to the success of many of her students over the years. In fact, numerous students kept in contact with her over the years & some have even gone into education themselves. To say Margie was active in the community would be an understatement. She managed to simultaneously belong to: Liederkranz-Turner of Dayton (German Club), Greater Beneficial Union (GBU District President), College Women's Club of Dayton, Dayton Gourmet South, Kettering Noon Optimists, Oldtown United Methodist Church (Xenia), Faith Lutheran Church (Dayton) & many more. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, sister & a great grandchild. She is survived by 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, OH 45409, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, from 10 am until time of the service at 11 am. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to either: Reach Out & Read, Attn; Development Dept. 89 South St, Suite 201, Boston, MA 02111 OR Hospice of Dayton Foundation, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420. Was so sorry to hear about her passing. My daughter had the privilege of being in her classroom at Liberty (in the new Union Elementary building) the last year she taught school, and I had the privilege of coming in her classroom to help students and celebrate at class parties. She loved her students as if they were her own, was an incredible teacher and was always excited about everything she was doing in her classroom. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, it truly was a privilege to know her. Rest in peace, Mrs. Wirth

I worked with Margie for only a couple years at Liberty Early Childhood School (but knew of her as an amazing teacher in the district prior to that). She truly had a love for teaching children and was always excited about everything she was doing in her classroom with her students. I still have a few books in my own classroom with "Wirth" written on them (passed down to me when she retired). What a wonderful lady.

Barbie, Terry, I am so sorry to hear about (your Mom) Margie's passing. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I truly loved Margie, we did so much together through the years on Northdale especially gardening. We were always going to nurseries, planting flowers, roses, boy did we have roses. Oh and her laugh, so infectious. She loved my children and often we would all pile in the van and just go. I will and have missed her. She was a very special lady.

Terry and family,
I am saddened to hear of Margie's passing. She was such a comfort to
me at Jackie's death. You didn't have to know Margie very long. She was
so kind and a wonderful human being. Spring is coming and I am sure her
garden will flourish. May you be blessed with all your memories.

We are so saddened to hear of Margie's passing. She was a warm, loving and generous person who will be greatly missed by those who knew her. She was genuinely interested in others and was also so friendly and kind. The choir will miss her and our club will also miss all her contributions of time and talent. May she rest in eternal peace.
