Mark R. Saewert of Weston passed away in his home on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2016.
Beloved brother and best friend of Mary French of Charleston, South Carolina and Ann Weissler of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Devoted uncle to Lewis and Rebecca French of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Sam Weissler of Durham, North Carolina and Kate Weissler of Washington, DC. He was the son of the late Russell and Catherine Saewert of Weston.
Mark was a gentle soul who loved his family and friends. Our father called him, 'the salt of the earth'. Mark was always ready and happy to help. He was a kind man who saw the value and potential in everyone and he wanted to see them succeed in their endeavors. He was generous to an extreme to all who were lucky enough to know him. He knew that learning was understanding something you've known all your life, but seeing it in a new way. He always sent us articles from the Wall Street Journal to help us see the humor and irony in current events. Mark loved gardening in the backyard, growing vegetables and flowers, taking pride watching the hand of God moving through his work. He cherished concert performances and frequent summer trips to the New Hampshire seacoast region. His customers at the Charles Street store in Beacon Hill loved him and looked forward to seeing him. In 35 years at the store he saw them grow as the neighborhood changed. He realized, as G.K. Chesterton wrote, 'Real development is not leaving things behind, as on a road, but drawing life from them, as a root'.
Thank you for making a donation in his memory to the Dictionary Project, PO Box 1845, Charleston, South Carolina in honor of Mark's love of words and support for this program. Please include a letter telling us how Mark touched your life.

Mark was a very good soul indeed - I just received word and I am saddened to hear of his passing. My condolences to Ann, Mary and all of Mark's family. I echo the memories of Jamie, Tony and Doug from our high school days; and I am not surprised to read that Mark continued to be a kind and thoughtful man over the years.

I just heard about Mark's passing, and I am so sad. I first met Mark during freshman orientation at a dinner for the Civil Engineering students at Tufts. We remained friends throughout college. He was brilliant, but still down to earth - he loved talking to people from all walks of life. He had a dazzling smile and made me laugh with his dry wit and great sense of humor.
Attached is a photo that I took Senior year in college which I love.

I went to college with Mark and enjoyed spending time with him. We took a trip across the country together and I enjoy every minute! He was so sweet and kind. I wish we saw each other more. He is truly missed.

I am truly shocked and saddened by Mark's passing. I will miss seeing him during my yearly visits to RI. He had such a wonderful smile that would light up a room. I consider myself one of the fortunate people whose path in life crossed Mark's. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family.

Mary and Ann:
Like everyone, I have a heavy heart for my friend Mark because I will no longer see him physically in this world. But I believe we will one day be united in a better place. If there is anyone who will be at the right hand of God, it is Mark. Mark was the most honest person, a simple and wonderful man.
I was Mark's college roommate for 3 years, we roomed together in Connecticut after college, drove to work together, went on trips together, played golf with one another. So many great memories! Mark was "the salt of the earth". He will always stay in our hearts.
Till we meet each other in a better place, RIP my beloved friend. Love you Mark

It was with great sadness that I write in Mark Saewert's Guest Book. Mark was a good friend of mine in high school, particularly best of friends in 9th and 10th grades. In our junior year, we played poker with a group of classmates on most weekends, with Mark being an avid and skilled player! Mark worked for me at the Charles Street 7-Eleven for over three years and then for Tracy Hollander there for many, many more years. I would say that Mark was one of the most honest, sincere and trustworthy souls I have ever met. He had an affable smile that I will always cherish. God Bless Mark and may he rest in peace.

Our deepest condolences to the Saewert Family. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's sudden passing. I worked alongside him for over 25 years at 7-Eleven/Charles Street Market on Beacon Hill. He was the most loyal employee anyone could ask for.
Mark was a gentle, kind soul who enjoyed meeting new people visiting Boston, always willing to go that extra mile to assist with directions and taking a genuine interest in everyone he met.
Our thoughts and prayers are with youMark was a true gentleman through and through.
Rest In Peace My Frienduntil we meet again. God Bless.

I am saddened to just hear of Mark's passing.
My deepest condolences to you and your families
He always had a smile on his face. I would always stop and say hi when I saw him. Living across the street from him for 36 years, I can say he was an inspiration to all that met him.
He will be missed

Mark was a great friend to all. Many times he was the first person I saw in the morning on my way to Blackstones and the last person I saw at night when I went home. He was one of the first to champion my writing of the Book, The Last Shepard that raised money for cancer. Upon publication of the book, I gave Mark one of the first copies. He loved to recite lines from the book when I saw him. This is a great loss to his family, his friends and me and to all those who will never have the pleasure or honor to know such an exceptional human being, God Bless you, Mark!! -Mark Duffield

Ann and Mary... Very sorry to hear about Mark. He was a very good friend from Weston High School. We ran track, played poker, and took many of the same classes. We were in the same home room with Mr. Jordan. Mark had many good friends and fortunate to me among them.
