My thoughts and prays go out to the memmorie of Mark (Lumpy) Anderson and his family. I played football with Lumpy in high school and I will nver forget what an intense player he was. We were getting ready to play Fremont High who was ranked #1 in the CCS which is comprised of 110 schools. They were a scoring machine and Coach Chuck Rodgers had Lumpy so pumped up during that week of practice and keep the thought in the back of our heads that we could shut them out. Well we did 6-0 thanks to the play of Mark (Lumpy) Anderson middle linebacker he led our defense that night. Mark always had a good heart and I was always glad to be in his company. I'm so saddened by this news. Mark was a larger than life guy that I had known since Kindergarten at Regnart Elementary through Kennedy JH and MVHS. He was one of my earliest friends growing up in Cupertino and always the biggest guy in the class. I remember his Dad taking a job transfer to Europe (Denmark?) for a couple of years when Mark was at Regnart. He came back playing this weird version of "football" called soccer and he was really good, telling us that "everyone played this game in Europe and no one played baseball or football". He tried to get us to play it but the school didn't even have real soccer balls or nets etc.. Trouble was no one played soccer here in the late sixties so he was soon back to playing "real" football within a short time.

I didn't know Mark in his "Bubba" days to us he was "Lumpy" but he was always a big hearted friend that I have many fond childhood memories of growing up with in Cupertino.

My condolences go out to his family.
