Mark Freeman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2013.

Arlington, Mark Alan Freeman, 55, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013. Mark was born in Dallas, Texas to Kenneth and Marjorie Freeman on June 06, 1957. He spent his life in the north Texas area where he worked as a Police Officer and Deputy Constable for over 30 years. He had a passion for music and was a talented pianist performing at many churches and functions around the area including Meadowlane Baptist Church his church home. Mark had many hobbies he pursued including Tai Kwon Do in which he held a black belt and spent many years on a demo team and instructing classes. He excelled as a photographer capturing his favorite outdoor places as well as the animals he loved. Mark spent his free time watching sports and collecting baseball cards and memorabilia. While he had many hobbies he also loved the Lord and his family and recently became "G-Pa" to a grandson whom he absolutely adored. Mark was preceded in death by his grandmother Ruth Chapman and mother Marjorie Freeman. He is survived by his father Kenneth Freeman, Brother David Freeman and wife Leigh Ann, Sister Mary Lynn Dicarlo and husband Duane Dicarlo, and his only daughter Rachel Nicole Gebhardt, husband Geffrey Gebhardt, and Grandson Grayson Lynn Gebhardt.

My condolences to the Freeman Family. I had the great pleasure of working with Mark for 7 years as a police officer. Recently, I just found out about Mark's passing and I'm sincerely lost for words. We shared many experiences together and he had the best handwriting that I've ever seen. During my tenure, I've lost three wonderful friends that worked at Pantego (Tim Lindwall, Mark Sanborn and Mark Freeman), God bless you.

I used to work with Mark at Pantego PD. I just found out a couple days ago and am very saddened, as I had wished to one day come in contact with him again. He was a bright light that made going to work fun. He always made me laugh and made my midnight shift bearable. God bless Mark and look forward to seeing him someday in heaven.

To Mark's loving family. What a huge loss for all of your family. But what a great home going he must be having right now! I have heard that Mark's memorial sevice today was so uplifting. I would like to have been there myself. Mark was indeed very accomplished at the keyboard, and if memory serves me correctly, he taught himself to play. I can remember when he first started to play at Meadow Lane, and he just kept improving so much each time he played for us. Mark's passion for life has been an inspiration to many, and his love for those around him will surely be fondly remembered.

To Mr. Freeman, David and Mary Lynn who I remember so fondly, and to the rest of Mark's family that I never met - I am so very sorry for your loss. Mark fought the good fight - he was very special to so many of us that knew him in the Meadow Lane youth group.

It's funny the things you remember about someone. Mark was a really sweet guy. Peny and I rode with him to school at Sam Houston for a year. He would let us pick the music for the 10 minute drive to school, and I would always get him to play a Bread 8 track. I never hear “Baby I'm-a Want You” without thinking of that white car with black leather seats and his collection of 8 track tapes. Mark was sweet and funny, and always an active part of what was going on in the Meadow Lane youth group. We've got quite a group gathering on the other side ready to welcome us into Heaven, and we know for sure that Mark is part of that group … probably playing a keyboard of some kind ...probably not playing a Bread 8 Track ….

Love you Mark.
