I am so sad to have only found out today that my roommate and teammate at Montreat-Anderson left us earlier this year. I wish I'd have stayed in-touch. He was such a great guy, with a great smile, and was loved by so many. I never knew him to have a single enemy. Though late, Mark and his family will remain in my thoughts and prayers and I wish Mark peace and comfort in heaven. God bless. - Brit Linkner

Just don't seem right signing this page. Sure have spent many years of fun times and laughs. It was never a dull moment and always such a great laugh when we got together. God Bless Wayne, Martha, Mike, David and Nancy. You all continue to be in my prayers. Don't ever want to question God, but this seemed to be way too early. There were many more laughs and times and people that needed to see that smile. Take care Bro! Till we meet again.

I am so shocked and sorry, I just learned of this today. I've known Mark since kindergarten and he was always such a sweet and humorous guy. I guess one of my fondest memories was in the 6th grade and he and another boy were trying to do handstands and the other boy went to do his and kicked Mark in a very sensitive spot..I had never seen anyone turn green before..but he just laughed it off after a few minutes. And the party we had at his house and I was scared to play the game we were all playing and he gave me a compliment trying to make me feel better...he was something else..I'm in a total state of shock I just can't wrap my head or heart around this..my thoughts and prayers to the Henderson family and the many friends that Mark and I share. Mark, I hadn't seen you in years but I thought of you often...I will miss you my friend and will see you again one day. Much Love...

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

We are still numb with grief over the passing of our "adopted" son, Mark. We met Mark through our son, John Ormiston, and Mark always called me Mama O. We know the family has lost a wonderful son, brother, and uncle. His friends have lost a loyal and caring friend. We never saw him when he wasn't smiling and upbeat. He was a kind, generous soul and we will miss him every day. May the wonderful memories he leaves with all of you and all of us help bring his spirit into our lives everyday and teach us the importance of loving your fellow man. Rest in peace, Mark. Your "adopted" parents, Tad and Polly Ormiston

I met Mark about 13 years ago through his cousin, Cindy. He used to tease me because of my height and call me Half-Pint. He had a great sense of humor, a huge heart, and a contagious smile. I'm glad we remained in touch over the years. Your family is in my prayers.

How sad I was to learn of this tremendous loss. My brother Mark, was a special guy. He always made me laugh, and despite not seeing him in years, I consider him one of my greatest friends. The Henderson family was always so kind and warm to me. They all had a way of making you feel like family. The world got a little less bright when brother Mark's smile left us, but the memories shine in our hearts. I don't think he had an enemy in life. If so, it was their fault, because he seemed to love everyone. He was full of life and I trust I will one day see him with our Father in heaven. Until then, I'll remember the good times and joy shared with my great friend, Mr. Mark Henderson.
May The Lord comfort your hearts.
In His love,

I was honored that Mark Levern Henderson considered me a friend. Mark had a genuine and inviting kindness that people who were blessed to know him truly felt. They were evident in his skills as a Pineville Police officer and I know he made a lot of people's bad days a little brighter in the way he handled those events. I met Mark back in 1999 after we hired his good friend, Scott Smith, to work for our company. Scott introduced me to Mark and I will always be grateful to him as he provided the bridge to meet such a wonderful and caring person. Mark invited me into his world by inviting me to go with him and his very good friends to go to Mardi Gras in New Orleans which was a regular occurance for him. I had the time of my life as Mark led me through what was most important about Mardi Gras - the best places to catch the beads of the floats, best spots for the parades, Cafe Du Monde for coffee and French donuts, the wonderful New Orleans food and the hospitality of the Ormiston family in New Orleans. Mark reveled in the history and traditions of Mardi Gras as well as all the partying we did at Pat O'Briens and throughout the French quarter. The next year I repaid the favor by bringing him up to Connecticut along with a few of his friends from Charlotte and we drove to the Bronx and Mark took in his first and only Yankee game behind home plate on opening day sitting in the Yankee player wives section - it was the only time I have ever seen him speechless in the 13 years that I've known him as he was taking in all of the history of it all. He hardly said a word for the first 30 minutes because of it. I always heard how good of a baseball player he was and how he went to Montreat to play baseball in college. We played on a number of softball teams together and when we would warm up before games his throws produced that certain "pop" when it hit your glove - that certain pop that only a strong arm produces. I played baseball my whole life and those of you who played as well know how that feels - you can tell who can play by how they throw. Mark was always the best looking guy of every room he ever walked into. His trademark smile, his contagious laughter and the mischievous twinkle in his eye(a good friend reminded me of that this week) made the guys want to be like him and the women line up to talk with him. I was honored that he accepted my request to be in my wedding. My mother died when I was young, and my aunt became a mother to me - Mark was the one who walked her down the aisle. Mark loved his family and his friends loyaly - accepting everyone's strengths and weaknesses the same. Few people in my life have had such an impact as Mark Levern Henderson has had. Love to all of the Henderson family, his father Wayne, mother Martha, his brother Mike, sister Nancy and brother David. I got to know David well from Mark and I know the special bond they shared together. Heather, my wife referred to them as "the brothers". Special thoughts to Mark's cousin Cindy Thompson and all the Henderson family. Mark filled his life with friends, music, experiences and his spirit will continue to be felt throughout all of us until our reunion in Heaven. Peace and love until we see each other again. David

My most sincere prayers go out to Mark Henderson's family and his multitude of friends. Although I was not real close to Mark growing up, I know I have many friends and a sister that were. Personally I will always remember the charisma he carried so well and that handsome, beaming, joyful smile. To all of you that are sadden so deeply within your soul I want to share:
Rest assured that time will help us all to heal, yet it will not completely diminish the loss we feel.
His smile was too bright to be forgotten, share your memories, your adventures galore. I am sure that will make Mark smile forever more.
Let's make ourselves remember the good times, the special ones too, Mark would want his journey to be celebrated by me and by you.
Take this sad time and do some good, go ahead do it, make someone smile like our friend Mark would!
