Obituary

SMITH, Mark Steven,51, of Montgomery, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel. His Graveside Service will be Friday, June 20, at 2:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery, with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. Preceded in death by his parent, Julious L. and Martha Jo Jones Smith, he was known for his love of family, playing the guitar, and sports - especially the Alabama Crimson Tide. He worked for Southern Fasteners in Montgomery, and touched countless lives while coaching baseball and softball at East Montgomery. He is survived by his loving wife,...
SMITH, Mark Steven,51, of Montgomery, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014, after a brief illness. Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel. His Graveside Service will be Friday, June 20, at 2:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery, with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. Preceded in death by his parent, Julious L. and Martha Jo Jones Smith, he was known for his love of family, playing the guitar, and sports - especially the Alabama Crimson Tide. He worked for Southern Fasteners in Montgomery, and touched countless lives while coaching baseball and softball at East Montgomery. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Odom Smith; one son, Austin Puckett-Smith; two daughters, Kacie (Chad) Bennington, and Brooke Smith; one granddaughter, Laiken Grace Judy; one sister, Julie Smith, all of Montgomery, and loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. Pallbearers will be Joe Bradley, Michael Foster, Nick Hillman, Darrell Martin, Austin Puckett-Smith, Tony Riley, Michael Toms, and Tim Warren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Cone, Ed Grimes, Mike Robinson, Dan Summers, and the EHBC Golden Jazz (1978-1980). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any Youth Baseball and/or Softball Organization. Ball was a major part of our family's life, and certainly where Mark will be remembered fondly.
