We were saddened to hear of Markle's passing. He was a remarkable aviator and friend. I am honored to have known him. May it comfort his family to know that others share their sorrow, and may his memory be long-lasting.

The Family of Markle Sparks,
Although we missed him the last couple years, Ruth and I always looked forward to seeing Markle at the annual Delta Golden Wings reunions where he was a regular visitor. We will miss him.

I met Markle several years ago at the DGW but found out later that we were doing WW-2 duty at the same time. He was flying the C-47 that took us who were ferrying P-39s to Fairbanks back to Great Falls so we could do it again.
He will be missed by many.

I knew Sparky for many years and spent many hours sharing a fishing boat at our annual fishing get together in Northern Minnesota.I found out that he was supposed to have been on a C-46 that I watched pass overhead on fire while I delivered papers in East Los Angeles. He had missed that particular flight because he'd gone home for lunch. He was a kind and gentle soul who accepted jokes at his expense with great grace.

To all survivors of Markle Sparks,
The membership of Delta Golden Wings, Inc., especially those who knew Markle, sends their condolences to you over Markle's passing. We have missed his presence the last few years at our annual reunions, but his bubbling spirit was with us. Markle was a delight in his later years to all who talked with him. He certainly had a long life of activity and an avid interest in aviation. We are thankful for his service to our nation during WWII and for his service to the airline passengers he served over his long career. We hope his survivors take his legacy and let fond memories inspire each in their future endeavors. On behalf of DGW members,
Fraternally,
Rollin A. Jackson, Jr.

We were so sorry to hear of Markle's passing. He was always very kind to our girls when he lived on Remington Lane.
