Marshall W. Staub, age 67, passed away at his home with his wife by his side on July 9, 2011. He fought a courageous battle with emphysema for several years, but still managed to have a great sense of humor and quick wit.
Marshall was born on January 7, 1944 in Rice Lake, WI to Frank P. and Arvella J. Staub. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Barber on November 30, 1963. Marshall mainly grew up in the Rice Lake and Hayward area and was a member of the Hayward High School class of 1962. He was a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard Reserve Co. B 724th Engineer Battalion – Hayward, WI for seven years. Marshall was employed as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service from 1978 until the time of his retirement in 2003. Prior to working for the Postal Service, he worked for Lyle James & Sons, B & W Chevrolet, Kronlund Ford, Vortanz Lumber, Kevin Kronlund, and other areas of employment.
At an early age, Marshall had a dream of flying airplanes, and was able to fulfill this dream by obtaining his private pilot license in the 1980's. Marshall was a member of the EAA and spent many happy times flying with his "airplane buddies" at Warbirds North and elsewhere. During the 1980's & early 90's Marshall spent many hours working on restoring planes. His pride and joy was the restoration of the North American AT-6 (Harvard MK IV) which took a course of seven years to complete.
First and foremost Marshall enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially hunting, fishing, and flying with his grandsons, daughter, and son in law. Marshall had always enjoyed collector cars, watching car races with his brother Doug, and country music. Marshall was a member of the band "The North Country Four" where he played bass guitar for eight years in the 70's and early 80's.
Marshall is survived by his wife Dorothy of Hayward, WI; daughter, Heather (Tom) Liddicoat; grandsons, James Liddicoat and Tyler Liddicoat, all of Waunakee, Wisconsin; his twin sister, Marsha Smith, Rice Lake, and brother Douglas Staub, Hayward, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Marshall's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1st at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.
Memorials may be directed to Regional Hospice, 15910 W Company Lake Road or First Lutheran Church, PO Box 346, both of Hayward, WI 54843.

Please accept my sympathy.
I remember growing up with Marshall and Marsha. My first taste of macaroni and cheese was at their apartment on main street not far from my home. We had fun times.
