Marta was born in Guatemala over 94 years ago. She immigrated to the United States of America in 1951 under sponsorship to an oil family in Wichita Falls, Texas. Upon fulfilling that obligation, she relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1952. She returned to Guatemala to bring her children to the United States. Ana, the eldest, was not allowed to emigrate, so she brought her son Leonard and her other daughter Sonia back with her. They crossed the border into the United States on Christmas Eve of 1953. Ana eventually joined the family in Los Angeles, California in 1957. Her daughter Roxanne was born in 1958. An enterprising woman, she dedicated her life to providing for her family.
An accomplished seamstress she worked her way up from the piece-work industry to eventually be a part of the Costumer's Union in Hollywood, California. She worked with many talented designers, including Bob Mackie, dressing and tailoring notables such as Carol Burnett and the Smothers Brothers. She also worked with the Sid and Marty Krofft Company helping to make the original characters for the H.R. Pufnstuf TV show and others.
A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother she will be missed by her very large and far-flung progeny.

She was the person that influenced me the most. By her actions, her determination and most of all, by her devotion. My sisters and I were lucky to have had such an incredible person as our source of life.
We will miss her, but she'll never be forgotten.
