Lubbock – Martha L Hord, 82, of Lubbock passed away on August 30, 2012 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Rev. Ken Horn officiating. Martha was born on October 4, 1929 in Bonham, Texas to Jim and Georgia Owen. Early in Martha's young life her father Jim was injured by a horse and passed several years later. She was then raised by her mother and step father Roy Parr. She enjoyed riding her horse, Hot Shot, in local parades and barrel racing. In June of 1947 she married the love of her life J.D. Martha was born on October 4, 1929 in Bonham, Texas to Jim and Georgia Owen. Early in Martha's young life her father Jim was injured by a horse and passed several years later. She was then raised by her mother and step father Roy Parr. She enjoyed riding her horse, Hot Shot, in local parades and barrel racing. In June of 1947 she married the love of her life J.D. Hord together they enjoyed traveling and family time.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughters; Joyce and husband, Retired Lieutenant Colonel Craig Murra, of Shiloh, ILL, Lynn Womack of Plano, grandchildren; Cypil and husband, JD Douglas, Erika and husband, Justin Crawford, Jack and wife, Ashlie Murra, Kent and wife, Mashiko Murra and Heath Murra, 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Hord, one sister Betty, one brother, James and her parents.
The family extends special thanks to Raider Ranch and Odyssey Hospice for the love and care during her illness.
