Martha Oates (Mrs. Robert F. Oates), age 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
She was born July 26, 1921, in Pottsville, Arkansas to Guy Ferguson and Carrie Morton Ferguson. She was married to Robert Franklin Oates for 70 years until his death in 2014. Martha was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a friend to many.
She was active in her churches, Highland Heights Presbyterian Church, Little Rock and Fellowship Bible Church, Jonesboro, and in Bible Study Fellowship.
She is survived by her brother, Dean Ferguson, Pottsville, Arkansas, her son, Lynn (Carolyn) of Cave Creek, Arizona, her daughter, Becky (Mrs. David Johns), Harrisburg, Arkansas, five grandchildren: Kurt Johns, Carrie Johns, Matthew Oates, Robert Oates and Bradley Oates and nine great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Friday, August 11, at 9:30 a.m. with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock. Dr. Steve Irby will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander.
