Martha E. Alverson, 92, of East Ridge died Sunday, February 16, 2014. She was born June 5, 1921 in Sugar Valley, Georgia a daughter of the late Ben and Dixie Alverson. She was preceded in death by her brother Lynn Alverson. She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church for 55 years, where she sang in the choir, worked in the library and was active in the WMU. Miss Alverson was retired from TVA after 39 years of service.
Survivors include her brother Ken H. (Jenny) Alverson; sister-in-law Sharon Alverson; nieces and nephews Terry Sorrell, Melissa Alverson, Anne Alverson, Lynda Hughes, David Alverson and Robert Alverson; 12 great nieces and nephews and 3 great great nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 20 at 10:00 am in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Rowland officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends a t the funeral home from 2-4 Wednesday.

I was sorry to hear of Martha's passing even though I know she is better off being with Jesus. My prayers are for her family and close friends who will miss her. Let them remember they will see her again some day if they have given their life to Jesus as Martha did.
