Martha Ellen Knight Arwood, 90, of Life Care Center of Greeneville, formerly of Amity Road, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital, with her family by her side.
She was a housewife.
Mrs. Arwood was the oldest member of Jackson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Billy Rex and Martha Arwood of Greeneville; three daughters and sons-in-law: Velma Ruth and Freddie Henderson of Marshall, NC; Janie and William Babb of Greeneville; Rebecca and Frank Bitner of Chuckey; grandchildren: Michael Henderson of Marshall, NC, Beverly Parlier of Chuckey; special great grandchildren: Daykota Solomon and Joseph Parlier; several nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Emaline Bible Knight and was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Arwood; a son, Rickey Arwood; a daughter, Geneva Broyles; six brothers, Howard, Jim, Otis, John, Ralph, and Lee Knight.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Jackson's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
Rev. Ralph Hensley will officiate. Interment will follow in Jackson's Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Daykota Solomon, Jerry Knight, Buford Knight, Anthony Knight, Fred Knight, and Danny Knight.
Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff on Birch Wing at Life Care Center of Greeneville.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kiser Rose Hill Funeral Home.

You have my deepest sympathies for your mother. I know she was a lot of company for mom and she and the family watch over mom a lot and I will always be grateful. I am glad they where roommate for so long. You and I know their both in a better place. Your family is in our prayers.
