Wonderful, Classy, Wisdom, Beautiful are a few good words that I can say about my grandmother Martha Lee Hawkins.

As we lay you down to rest and you enter into the gates of heaven, I would like to say thank you for the wisdom and knowledge you have passed on to me, the gratest prize for a grandchild is a grandmother that cares.
Grandma you were and will always be a blessing in my life, and as you look down upon me I ask that you spread your wings and continue to be my angel and guide in the path as you always did.
Thank you for every whooping, every tooth you've pulled, every cooked meal and every lesson I've learned.
Thank you for every hug I needed even when I thought I didnt need one.
Thank you for every night you allowed me to lay across the foot of your bed and listen to all you stories, back then I never could understand why I was so intrested in your conversations, but now as an adult I truly get it now, you were feeding me that strength, and wisdom that you have, and I LOVE YOU for that.
YOU ARE THE TRUE DEFINITION OF A GRANDMOTHER

YOU'RE GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN

Imagining a world without my grandmother is like imagining a world without my best friend. I have learned so many valuable lessons and shared many precious memories with the woman I call "Grandma." Although she is no longer with me physically, I feel her presence with me in everything I do. My daughter will never get to know firsthand what a beautiful, strong and devoted person her great grandmother was. Even though she will not be here to witness the birth of her great grandbaby, I am content in knowing that we have a beautiful and loving angel looking over us. I know you are now with my grandpa, daddy and cousin- I love you and miss you. - Carissa Hawkins

My mom, Frankie Kelly, introduced me to Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins many years ago. I was so thankful that your family embraced my mom so warmly and my mom always called the Hawkins her "friends". What I recognized immediately was the special bond between Ms. Hawkins and my mom and I know that they cared deeply for and looked out for each other. They exchanged calls almost daily even while my mother vacationed away from Monterey on the East Coast and Southern US each year. And when I came to California, I looked forward to visiting Ms. Hawkins whenever I traveled to the Peninsula. She spoke proudly and lovingly of her children and grands. She was witty and entertaining and enjoyed hearing me play and sing for her. And my could she cook! I hold fond memories of her and will greatly miss our customary visits when I return to Seaside later this year. Hawkins and Gilliard family, be strong and be encouraged. For weeping endureth for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. My sincerest sympathy in your lost. Frankie's son, Donald.

Grandma, There is so much I can say and I could probably write a book. So instead I'm just going to acknowledge and thank you for the most valuble lesson in life you taught me and that is love. You showered me with it. You showed me how to give it and what a powerful affect it has been in my life as well as others. It's a gift I wouldn't exchange for the world. It has gotten me through every obstacle in life. I will continue to love and show love just like you did with me and others. Thank you for being you, because that helps me be me. Knowing I have you in my heart makes it possible to do all things. I love you and I'll see you in a better place. - Shamika Hawkins

Time, Sunshine and Flowers
The time to sprout and grow is now. To learn new things about ourselves and love the things around us. I know grandmother loved with more than herself, she was always a holy spirit and had a strong scense of self when she was around others. The Sunshine is for the proudness and glory she had for her husband, kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. The flower is for the time that the sun shine brings happiness, smiles, love and lots of beautiful things around us. It creates the budding time to spread your wings and fly high. To let the world know she is shining in the glory. - Charles Williams
