One of my earliest memories of Aunt Vi is that she was always busy baking and crocheting. It was because of her I learned how to knit and crochet. It was fascinating to watch her turn a piece of yarn into something so pretty. How much time she must have spent making all of those chrusciki and pierogi for our Christmas Eve parties is hard to imagine, but they were sure good and created a memory I'll never forget. I will miss the cards and notes we exchanged over the years at Christmas.
Aunt Vi will always be one of my fondest memories. My prayers are with all of you. May God's peace be yours.

My prayers are with you during this difficult time. May many loving memories of your mother comfort you as well as the thoughts and prayers of family and friends. There are no words to express the love between a mother and her children - may that love carry on in your hearts.

Jim, Joe, Greg, and Kathy,
So, so many of my best childhood memories revolve around your Mother, my Godmother. I remember trips to Belle Isle, Boblo, Kent Lake to celebrate Kathy's birthday, the cottages on Evans Lake and in Lexington, and of course, dressing up to go shopping downtown or on Joseph Campau. Marie and I would get so excited when Dad would turn onto Wyandotte because we knew it would be a good time, even if it was just watching an old movie on TV.
Your Mom was an inspiration in the way she kept active to the end. Whether it was her involvement with the Senior Center Bingo, or making enough pierogis and holiday cookies with Carolynn to feed an army, she was always doing something. Even in her last weeks at the nursing home, she continued to be an example of what living life to the fullest, and not giving up, is all about.
To say that this little dynamo, loved so much by all who knew her, will be missed is truly an understatement!

I just heard from Nancy about Aunt Vi passing away. I have so many memories of her from all of the years we had the big family parties. I used to love to spend the couple of weeks every summer "in the city" and Aunt Vi taught me to embroider, she showed me how to iron embroidered clothes so that the embroidered part stood out, she was so sweet and I loved spending time with her and my cousins.
Though life has taken me far away, in my heart she will always be young and vibrant.
Please know Jimmy, Joey, Greg and Cathy that I will keep you in prayer and will always remember all of the fun times of our young years with our young parents!
Love, Margaret Dobry Lake and John Lake (my husband since July 28th)

Just received word from John (Dobry) about Aunt Vi. Favorite memory: the beautiful Christmas village under the tree when we had the family gatherings on Wyandotte Street. You are all in my heart and prayers.

Dear Kowalski Family,
Please know you are in my thoughts during this difficult time. Although I have not seen Aunt Vi in many years I have many fond memories of family gatherings. Aunt Vi made some of the best "angel wings" and those were always a special treat at Christmas gatherings! I am certain that she has a real set of wings now.

I treasure the memories of "Cookie Day" at Grandma Kowalski's. I've carried on the tradition with my sister. And last Christmas I put up holiday decorations in the basement that I have no intention of taking down. I'm so blessed to have been included in celebrations with the Kowalski family and am grateful to have known their Matriarch, who was always so sweet and kind to me.
