Martin Carl Helmkamp was born on March 11, 1927 and died on September 20, 2013 at the age of 86. He was the beloved Father of Alan, proud Grandfather of Bryan (Amy) and Matthew (wife Sarah), loving companion of Claire Garneau for over 33 years, and also survived by her daughters Lizz (husband Trevor), Cheryl, JoAnn, Jeannette and their families and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Martin John Helmkamp and Edna (Mahn) Helmkamp and brother Warren Willard Helmkamp. He was the beloved Father of Alan, proud Grandfather of Bryan (Amy) and Matthew (wife Sarah), loving companion of Claire Garneau for over 33 years, and also survived by her daughters Lizz (husband Trevor), Cheryl, JoAnn, Jeannette and their families and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Martin John Helmkamp and Edna (Mahn) Helmkamp and brother Warren Willard Helmkamp.

Graduate of Detroit Southeastern High School in 1944 and LaSalle Extension University- Chicago, CPA/ Higher Accountancy in 1949. Employed by United States Rubber Company (1943-1948) and Ford Motor Company (1948-1982). A Lutheran man of faith, proud "old school" gentleman, accomplished athlete, loving, generous, dependable friend, member of Elks Lodge #1945 Dearborn, life-long supporter of the University of Michigan and Detroit professional sports teams.

Visitation Monday September 23, 2013 from 3 pm until 8 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Livonia. Funeral service Tuesday September 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment immediately following funeral service at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Martin can be made to the charity of your choice.
