REHMERT, Martin W., age 81 of Centerville passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at home in the presence of his family. Martin was born on January 26, 1933 in Arcanum, Ohio to the late Walter and Eva Mae Ricker Rehmert. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Rehmert; children Deb (Bob) Cox of Waynesfield, Shirley (Jim) Murphy of Oakwood, Mike (Terrie) of Topeka KS, Brenda (Mike) Kern of Springboro, and two children acquired in love, Susan and Bob Burckle of Centerville; 13 grandchildren plus 4 by marriage, 1 great granddaughter; and a sister, Reta Mae Stitz. REHMERT, Martin W., age 81 of Centerville passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at home in the presence of his family. Martin was born on January 26, 1933 in Arcanum, Ohio to the late Walter and Eva Mae Ricker Rehmert. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Rehmert; children Deb (Bob) Cox of Waynesfield, Shirley (Jim) Murphy of Oakwood, Mike (Terrie) of Topeka KS, Brenda (Mike) Kern of Springboro, and two children acquired in love, Susan and Bob Burckle of Centerville; 13 grandchildren plus 4 by marriage, 1 great granddaughter; and a sister, Reta Mae Stitz. Martin earned a BS degree in agriculture engineering from The Ohio State University and was commissioned as an officer in the US Air Force. Upon completion of his military obligations, Martin returned to Troy in 1957 where he was a farmer. In June of 1959 the New Knoxville School Board hired Martin as the Vo-Ag teacher and one year later also hired him as principal. He earned his Master's Degree in agriculture education, the sciences and administration. He authored the State Vocational Agriculture curriculum guide in agricultural mechanics, co-authored the first mechanics curriculum guide for vocational schools and wrote post graduate level text material for the National Vocational Agriculture Research Center in the area of oxyacetylene and arc welding. In 1973 he was promoted to superintendent of the New Knoxville Local School system. After retirement in 1989 Martin was active in church activities, mission work with S.O.W.E.R.S. and Gideon's International. He enjoyed making wood working projects for his children and grandchildren. One of his favorites was to make Jesus plaques for many people to share his love for his Savior. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Fairhaven Church, 637 E. Whipp Rd., Centerville, Ohio 45459, with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastors Jim Futrell and Ted Zabel officiating. Burial David's Cemetery.
