Obituary

Marvin "Tex" Kercho passed away Wednesday November 14, 2012 at age eighty-eight. He is the son of an Eastern European Czech immigrant Martin Kercho and Mary Migl Kercho of Yoakum Texas. He gained the name "Tex" from friends and his fiancée while living in Washington DC after WWII. He recently celebrated 62 years of marriage with his wife and partner Barbara Jane Hummel Kercho, known as Bobbi. He was a loving and highly devoted father to three children: Karen Kercho of Houston, Craig M Kercho of Houston and Christopher Kercho, deceased. Marvin "Tex" Kercho passed away Wednesday November 14, 2012 at age eighty-eight. He is the son of an Eastern European Czech immigrant Martin Kercho and Mary Migl Kercho of Yoakum Texas. He gained the name "Tex" from friends and his fiancée while living in Washington DC after WWII. He recently celebrated 62 years of marriage with his wife and partner Barbara Jane Hummel Kercho, known as Bobbi. He was a loving and highly devoted father to three children: Karen Kercho of Houston, Craig M Kercho of Houston and Christopher Kercho, deceased. Born and raised in Yoakum Texas, he later graduated from Texas A & M University. He served as First Lt US Army in the South Pacific Theater during WWII. He had a long professional career as a sales management executive with the IBM Corporation with assignments along the eastern seaboard and later in Texas. During retirement his passions were ranching and volunteer work. Tex and Bobbi are founding members of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin. In 1980 Tex received the Medal of the Cross-for his service to the church from His Excellency Pope John Paul II.

In addition to his wife, children and many friends, his grandson Joshua Kercho of Fort Worth and his daughter in law Debra Kercho of Houston survive Tex. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Kercho Garren and MC Garren of Richardson and their two children: Michael Garren married to Sandy Fails who live in Crested Butte Colorado and daughter Cynthia Winkelmann married to Michael Winkelmann who live in Jackson Mississippi.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday November 17, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery after the service.
