Obituary

Marvin T. McDonald, 96, of Wichita Falls passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls (east sanctuary) with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating. Interment will follow at Burkburnett Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 7:30 Monday evening at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Marvin T. McDonald, 96, of Wichita Falls passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls (east sanctuary) with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating. Mr. McDonald was born April 19, 1914 in Severy, Kansas to Hugh J. and Nellie Grace Miller McDonald. They moved to Wichita, Kansas when he was four years old and there he attended grade school and high school. Marvin delivered newspapers and worked in a grocery store while going to high school and liked to study electricity. He attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939. He worked his way through college by serving the university as an electrical repairman on their equipment. Marvin taught high school for two years then transferred to Civil Service as an instructor in airplane mechanics for 33 years at Sheppard Air Force Base. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater until war's end. He married Grace Preshaw Keve in 1942 and they had five wonderful children. Grace preceded him in death in 1988. Marvin and Grace were members of First United Methodist Church of Burkburnett for over 50 years. Marvin married Geraldine Callicoatte Powell on December 14, 1989 in Burkburnett, Texas. Marvin's hobby was always woodwork, making 'whirly' wood birds for most of his life along with other wood products. He was also known as a good domino player. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine McDonald, Wichita Falls, children, Paul Thomas McDonald and wife, Carolyn who have four children and two grandchildren, Louise Ann Wilson and husband, David who have 3 children and 10 grandchildren, Oliver Forrest McDonald and wife, Ellen who have 6 children (including two step children) and seven grandchildren (including two step grandchildren), Sylvia Grace Friske and husband, Terry who have two children and two grandchildren, Carolyn Jane Bourgois and husband, Peter who have two children (Riley Bourgois passed away in 1986). Geraldine has two sisters; Nadine Lewis of Lubbock and Virginia "Ginger " Grube of Dallas.

In lieu of usual remembrances, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls Building Fund, 1200 Ninth St., 76309
