Mary "Bobbie" Leonard Abernathy, 94, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 26, 2013. She was surrounded by family at her home in Acworth. She was born January 25, 1919, in Cherokee County and
moved to Cobb County in l935. She was a loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who took great pride in herhome and family. She had been a dedicated member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church , Acworth, since l947.
She was recognized for her wonderful cooking ability. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Talmadge E. Abernathy. Her mother, Laura Woodall Leonard, father, Homer Leonard, sisters, Dean Bishop, Lucille Davis, brothers, Erwin, Murry,Wesley and Donald Leonard. She is survived by five daughters and families. Janice A. Conine, Kennesaw, Brenda and Harold Owenby,Beverly and Earl Lee, Becky and Vince Michael all of Acworth, Mary Jo Walker and Donnie Crowe of
Centre, Alabama. One loving granddaughter, Mary C. Muller (who shared her birthday) and David; five devoted grandsons,
Eddie and Kim Conine, Joey and Leah Walker, Joshua and Jodie Michael, Jonathan and Linette Michael
and Jacob Michael. Six precious great granddaughters, Jo Lee and Jonnie Ann Walker, Reagan, Cassidy,
Payton Michael and Madeline Michael. Sister Elma L. Wilbur, Kennesaw, several nieces and nephews
and caregiver, Ruth Waweru. Family will receive family and friends on Thursday, March 28, from 4 to 9 pm at Winkenhofer Funeral Home in Kennesaw.Funeral Services will be officiated by Rev. John Darnell and Rev. Bill Reece on Friday, March 29, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Acworth Due-West Road, Acworth. Body will lie in state from l to 2 p.m. Interment will follow Liberty Hill Cemetery, Acworth. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
