Mary Ann (Amaral) Antonietta, age 68, of New Bedford, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, after a long illness surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. Antonietta. Born in Fairhaven, a daughter of the late Antone and Anna (Victorino) Amaral, she was a life-long resident of the area. Mrs. Antonietta was a 1961 graduate of Fairhaven High School and was a Police Officer in Acushnet for many years, retiring in 1981. She also worked with the Acushnet Police Association for several years and was the past president of New Bedford Emblem #75. Mary Ann (Amaral) Antonietta, age 68, of New Bedford, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, after a long illness surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of the late Joseph D. Antonietta.

Born in Fairhaven, a daughter of the late Antone and Anna (Victorino) Amaral, she was a life-long resident of the area.

Mrs. Antonietta was a 1961 graduate of Fairhaven High School and was a Police Officer in Acushnet for many years, retiring in 1981. She also worked with the Acushnet Police Association for several years and was the past president of New Bedford Emblem #75. She was also an Honorary Life Member of the New Bedford Elks #73, Past District Deputy of the South District and was an approving member of the Mass Elks Scholarship Association. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends, doing arts & crafts, and running the show.

Survived by her children, John "Jay" Wybraniec and his wife Clara of New Bedford, Donna Letourneau also of New Bedford, Susan O'Brien and her husband Paul, of Dartmouth, Diane Antonietta of Fairhaven and Robert Antonietta and wife Jacqueline of Florida; one brother Joseph Amaral of Middleboro, two sisters Loretta Von Hacht of Fairhaven, and Christine "Tina" Gonsalves of Acushnet; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Ricardo Amaral.

Her visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-8 PM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd. New Bedford. Her funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her honor may be made to, Mass Elks Scholarship Inc., 63 Bay State Road, Lynnville, MA 01940.
