Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Cordell Ferris, 93, of Orlando, Fl, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Ferris Tait and son-in-law Larry Tait of Ocala, Fl, and a sister, Ann Cordell Basinger of Athens, Ga., several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Craig K Ferris and their daughter Lynn Ferris Clark.
Libby was born in Hartwell, Ga. and graduated from Hart County High School. She went on to graduate from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. Ga. She was the fifth child of Mary Elizabeth Howard Cordell and James Cullen Cordell of Hartwell, Ga. Her Siblings were Howard L Cordell Sr. of Dublin, Ga., Llewellyn Cordell, Milledgeville, Ga., Clayton W Cordell, Dublin, Ga., Joe W Cordell, Tallahassee, Fl., Jack Cordell, Hartwell, Ga., and Ann Cordell Basinger of Athens, Ga.
After graduating from college she married Craig K Ferris and they moved to White Plains, NY where Craig worked for the 3M Company. He moved the family in 1959 to Orlando, Fl., where she lived for the past 58 years. She was a member of the Sorosis Club in Orlando, the Delaney Street Baptist Church and Rio Pinar Country Club.
Libby loved playing bridge and was an avid gardener and landscaper. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home is handling the arrangements
