Mary Jo (Fisher) Knight
Ann Arbor, Michigan
Mary Jo was born in Ann Arbor to Dr. Leonard P. Fisher and Neva Haun Fisher November 23, 1928. She passed away January 7, 2018 with her loving family at her side, after an extended illness. She attended Ann Arbor Public Schools and University High School. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO.
She married Myron C. (Nip) Knight November 21, 1948. In 1961 they founded Knight's Vending Inc. where she worked part-time for many years. Nip passed away August 14, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Lou Anne Tasch, brother-in-law Richard E. Tasch, sister-in-law Delores Fisher and special friend David Scott.
She was active in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Little League when her children were young. She and her husband were active in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Washtenaw Historical Society, spending a lot of time tracing their genealogy. They were also members of First United Methodist Church.
Mary Jo loved spending her winters on Anna Maria Island, Florida at her condominium. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling, gardening, University of Michigan football games and most of all her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Lynn (Thomas) Tew of Ann Arbor, Dana Lee (Keith) Gainey of Ann Arbor, and sons Thomas C. (Elizabeth) Knight of Whitmore Lake, James D. (Barbara) Knight of Ocqueoc, and Daniel C. Knight of Nokomis, Florida; by grandchildren Andrew (Amanda) Knight, Karen (Jefferson) Wells, Kory Gainey, Travis Gainey, Anneke Knight and Rhonda (Kevin) Hausermann, Christopher Tew, Jennifer (Abel) Thomason, Patrick (Mary) Tew and Laura Tew; and many great-grandchildren. Also, she is survived by her brother Leonard P. Fisher Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation is scheduled on Wednesday, January 10th, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor, Michigan. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11th, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with the family receiving guests from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service, followed by a graveside service at Washtenong Memorial Park, with the Reverend Doug Patterson officiating both services.
