Mary Kaufman, born Miriam Kruter, passed away on Tuesday, May 9th 2017 accompanied by the love of family and friends. Mary lived her life with zest and fortitude. She had a fervent love for her family, especially her great grandchildren, Zack, Max and Noa. Having survived the holocaust, she landed in New York, via Ellis Island. She admired the opportunities in her new country, and would lament…"there's money on the ground here, you just have to learn to bend down to pick it up". Always standing strong, she paved her way through the world of fashion design crafting beautiful creations for famous people and big names. She worked hard, loved life and her family and always had a bit of wisdom to share. When she said "take a coat to the beach, it's going to get cold" you did…because of her uncanny ability to just know. She leaves us all with the great memories, and the lessons of overcoming adversity and living life to its fullest. Donations in her name may be made to Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula, where she spent time as a volunteer.
