Mary Kay Fisher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 26, 2015.

Mary was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1923. Her father worked for the H. J. Heinz Company. During the Depression, Mary went to live with a friend of her family, Leonne Dickinson, who Mary calls Mom, and was raised by her on Harbison Street, a beautiful tree-lined street, on the North Side of Pittsburgh.
Mary went to Oliver High School, where she met her future husband, James J. Fisher. They were married for 68 years.
Mary worked for a while at Bell Telephone. She made $15.00 a week and she gave half of it to her Mom. After WWII, Mary's husband went to work for Gulf Oil and their first child, Patricia, was born. Five years later, they moved to Harrisburg, PA, where they had their sons, Barry James and Robert Arthur.
Mary was busy as a homemaker. She was a great cook and seamstress and loved to garden and read. She took up oil painting and showed a talent for it.
Mary and Jim also had two boys, Barry and Robert. Barry lives in Blanton, PA and Robert is here in Williamsburg, VA.
Grandma will be missed by Jesse A. Bercowetz, Keely M. Fisher ( Jason Mecca), Kiel Fisher (Keturah Fisher), Catrina S. Fisher, Cooper C. Fisher. Mom's loving daughter s-in-law, Wakaba Tasaka and Elke S. Fisher will miss her. Darling Oliver J. Mecca is Mary's first Great-Grandchild! Patricia, Barry and Robert will miss their Mother.
Endless thanks to Spring Arbor, Grace Hospice and Mary's personal caregivers.
Mary was member of St. Bede's Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd., Williamsburg, VA on Friday, October 30 at 3pm. A graveside service will take place at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA on Monday, November 2 at 11am.

Mary Ann Mohr

I'm so very sorry to hear about Mary's passing. My parents were great friends with Mary and Jim and we always enjoyed time spent with them and their family.

I didn't realize Mary grew up not too far from where we live now in Pittsburgh.

My deepest sympathies to Jim, Patti, Barry and Bob. Hopefully she's in heaven now enjoying herself with my parents, Don and Eleanor Haselhuhn, who are also deeply missed.

God bless and keep you - Mary Ann (Haselhuhn) Mohr

So sad to hear of her passing. I was a Caregiver for Mary in 2014. We loved
singing together, taking short walks admiring the flowers, sitting in the rocking chairs listening to the birds singing.I loved listening to stories she shared of her life and Children.

She will be greatly missed! My condolences to her Family.
