Salem - Mary Lois Redden passed away on Sunday, November 27th, 2016; in the presence of her family. She was proudly 90 years old.Mary Lois was born in Butte, Montana, to Helen and Edward P. Mondloch. She moved to Salem, Oregon, after earning her degree as a registered nurse. There, she met and married the love of her life, Richard Redden. They had five children together. She was a loving, generous person, always thinking of others. She provided care for family members and friends alike. The family did not recall a holiday meal that could begin before Mary Lois first delivered a meal to someone who was unable to attend. Mary Lois volunteered for the American Red Cross. She loved gardening and was a 20 year member of the Salem Fuchsia Club. Her Catholic faith was very important to her throughout her life.Mary Lois was preceded in death by Richard, her parents, and her brother Ed Mondloch. She is survived by her children Joan (Jerry) Hecker, Mike, Julie, Kevin (Dolores), Nancy (Jackie) McGrory, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.A viewing will be held at Howell Edwards Doerksen Funeral Home, Sunday, December 4th, beginning at 3pm, to be followed by a Rosary at 6pm. We only met Mary this year when we began to deliver Meals on Wheels, but we both quickly began to love seeing her every week. Unfailingly gracious, always cheerful, and warmly concerned to know about our families and how our lives were going no matter how challenging her own life was, she was the embodiment of generosity and kindness.
