Mary Upshaw Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 7, 2017.

Mary Bryant Burney
Our mother began this life on November 24, 1956 to Ethel Mae Thomblin Bryant and O'Dell Bryant in Hazlehurts, Georgia. She had 8 brothers, Robert Earl Bryant, O'Zell Bryant, Eddie C. Bryant, Benjamin Bryant, Eugene Bryant, Calvin Bryant, Freddie Lee Bryand and twin brother Elijah Bryant. She also had 6 sisters, Lois Scott, Nora Roberts, Ethel Lee Chambers, Shelva Jean Simmons, Pearlene Phillips and Betty Jean Randolph.

Mary attended Jeff Davis schools. She later met and married Charlie Burney Jr. They had 5 children Marie Thomas, DeGloria Bryant, Stephanie Jackson, Charlie Burney III and Nydia Burney. She was also very proud of her 11 grandchildren, Ashley Thomas, Tyrone Thomas, Denisha Vernon, Olivia Burney, Che'clyn Bryant, Charland Bryant, Arayah Jackson, Adoryn Burney, Kirk Jackson Jr, Nyglorae Burney and Char'le Burney, along with 5 great grandchildren, Damir, Nizyah, Amora, Jamir and Jakai. They were a sense of great joy in her life she spent as much time as she could with them and often spoke of their many achievements. She loved them very much.

She always put God first in her life throughout the years. She loved helping others. Mary was a very beautiful woman full of grace. She was also a very sweet, kind and humble woman. She loved whole heartedly and unconditional. She didn't just talk the talk she actually walked the walk. Always giving a perfect example of how to love and most importantly how to treat others in this life. Mary excepted Christ early on in life and was a woman of great faith. Helping others was something that she was very proud of. She also completed many years of missionary work. No matter what she faced in this life, she always did it with a smile. Mary transitioned on to glory on June 4, 2017, surrounded by her family with love into the loving arms of Jesus. Left to cherish her memory are her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren along with her siblings and a host of nieces and nephews. Her family is deeply saddened by her earthly loss on earth but look forward to one day joining her in her new heavenly home above.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church, 26 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Hazlehurst, GA 31539
