Mary Beatty Sampson died on November 21,206 in Plano TX. Her daughter, Becky was at her side.
She was born in Columbus, Indiana on July 8,1927. She was 89.
She's survived by her daughter Becky Miller & her son-in-law Jerry Miller of Carrollton TX; her granddaughters Chandra Gibson Freeman of Frisco, TX and Crystal Miller Alvarez and her husband Rey of Mckinney, TX; her great grandchildren, Kassidy Freeman; Ava & Zach Alvarez; brothers Charles & Butch Beatty & sisters Norma Beatty & Grace Owens of Columbus, Indiana.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother and father Georgia and Dillard Beatty; her husband Edward Sampson & her son Ed Sampson.
Mary & Edward were married on November 17, 1948 in Council Grove, Kansas.
Edward was in the Army, so they spent many years stationed in many states & countries. Mary was very involved in the Military Wives Club, where she held many offices. She volunteered for many causes & was recognized for her efforts. Many times she had to be mom & dad to her children, when Edward was on tour of duty.
Mary was a member of The Daughters Of The Nile & Retired Wives Club & Past Potentate Wives Club of Tampa, Florida.
She & Edward were members of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in Tampa, where she volunteered for many years. After coming to Carrollton, she attended Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton.
Mary was a loving, caring, giving and a fine Christian woman. Everyone she met fell in love with her. She would smile at her caregivers, even though she was suffering.
She spent a lot of time at the Carrollton Senior Center, where she had many friends & she loved to play chair volleyball.
She truly loved her caregiver, Shirley Woodward, who became her best friend & a part of the family. They had many good times together & were always laughing.
Mary will be buried at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida with the love of her life. A memorial service will be on December 8, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship in Carrollton and the burial at Florida National Cemetery is pending.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Metrocrest Services, Mosaic & Bea's Kids in her memory.

Becky. I know you will miss your mother, she was truly a wonderful women whom I pleasure of assisting when she and you father lived in Tampa, FL. Where every we went she was in a happy mood and she carried herself as a grand lady that she was.She was a wonderful friend and person to know. I know she was happy to be with you and her grand kids. Becky and family, my love goes out to you. Mary was a beautiful lady inside and out. My memories of her will stay with me always. We shared laughter and tears. I can see her smiling face and hear her laughter .God blessed me richly we He gave me Mary as a friend.

Becky, so sorry to learn of the death of your mother. Although I never had the privilege of meeting your mom, I'm sure she had a hand in modeling behaviors that shaped the special person that you are-your leadership skills, compassion, and desire to help others as well as your great sense of humor. You have shared stories about your mother and I'm hoping that those good memories will be a comfort to you as you grieve this loss. Know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
