Mary C. (Burns) Johnson, age 82 of Arcanum, Ohio and formerly of New Madison passed away at 10:30 A.M. Monday June 2, 2014 at the Oakley Place of Greenville, Ohio. She was born April 6, 1932 in Darke County and the daughter of the late Carl and Ruth (Harpest) Howdieshell.

Mary was a homemaker and for many years owned and operated the Fashion Flair Beauty Shop of New Madison and Ithaca.

She attended the Castine Church of the Brethren, enjoyed camping and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Step Father Henry Schlechty; her husband Stanley Leroy Johnson in April of 2014; brothers Marvin and Paul Howdieshell and sister Marjorie Gilbert.

Mary is survived by her children Sherry (Steve) Hubler of Cedarville, Ohio, Kent Burns of Brookville, Ohio, Kris (Shelly) Burns and Kraig D. Burns all of New Madison; step children Michael (Brenda) Johnson of West Manchester and Sandra (Joe) Thomas of Arcanum; 10 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, half-brothers Keith (Sue) Schlechty of Greenville and Steve Schlechty of Arcanum. Also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday June 6, 2014 in the Castine Church of the Brethren 624 US Route 127 Castine, Ohio with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenmound Cemetery New Madison. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and Friday 1/2 hour prior to the services in the church.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to State of the Heart Hospice of Darke County or the Oakley Place of Greenville.

I remember her helping send Carl to church camp with you, Kris. Carl loved spending time at your home. May you cherish your memories and find hope in The Lord.
