MARY E. (HAMNER) SHORT, 92 of Fairfield, IL passed away 9:37PM Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Cisne Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Mary was born May 3, 1920 at Ingraham, IL to Benjamin and Phoebe Grace (Knowles) Oaster. She first married Merle C. Hamner December 24, 1946 at Fairfield, IL. He preceded her in death March 24, 1976. She later married Ernest Short in 1980 and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed embroidering. She was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by her daughter Barbara Simpson (Richard) of Fairfield, IL and son David Hamner (Sue) of West Salem, IL; one sister Mabel Lauderback of Charleston, IL and one sister-in-law Pauline Oaster of Maryville, IL. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Preceding her in death were one infant daughter Marjorie Ann, one great granddaughter Sarah, one brother Eldon Oaster, one sister Irene Scammahorn, her husbands, and her parents.
Funeral service for Mary E. Hamner Short will be 12PM Friday, November 2, 2012 at Hosselton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ingraham Cemetery, Ingraham, IL. Friends may call 10AM to time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
