Mary Elizabeth Adkins passed away on August 4, 2010, in The Woodlands, TX. She was 90 years old.

Mary was born October 25, 1919, the first of three children to Earl and Jessie Miller, of Newport, OH. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Wilbur Adkins, and both brothers, Herman Miller and John Miller.

An avid reader and good student, Mary graduated with the class of '37 from Martin's Ferry High School. She continued to Business School and later worked in the office of J.L. Stifles in Wheeling, WV. She enjoyed sewing and playing the piano.

She met Wilbur at the Wheeling Island Roller Rink, and was married in 1941. They were together 49 years until Wilbur's death in 1990. During the years of WWII, they lived in Reno, NV and Panama Canal where Wilbur was stationed. They eventually settled in Glen Dale, WV. Mary moved to The Woodlands, TX in 1997 to be close to family.

Mary is survived by her daughter Tracy Gober, son-in-law Mark Gober, and granddaughter Julie Gober of The Woodlands TX. Also surviving are her brothers' families, Wilbur's family members and many friends.

A memorial service will be held in October, 2010, after which Mary's ashes will be interred next to Wilbur at the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, West Virginia.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the many caregivers who provided comfort to Mary during the last years of her life; The Terrace at The Woodlands-Assisted Living, Regent Care Center- Nursing Home, and Christus VNA Hospice.

Contribution in Mary's memory can be made to:
Glen Dale United Methodist Church, 700 Wheeling Ave., Glen Dale, WV 26038

"This was our first Christmas without you. Julie and I picked a small tree and decorated it. We think you would have approved. Love You" Tracy
