Mary Nell was a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and was a proud graduate of the University of Tennessee where she received a degree in music and a masters degree in counseling. She spent a majority of her life ministering in the Gadsden area as a counselor, youth director, and most recently through Gadsden State Community College in the Jobs Program. Mary Nell was also a private vocal instructor. Her favorite work was in the ministry of MeadowBrook Baptist Church where she was a loyal member of the choir and a beloved Sunday school teacher.
Mary Nell's impact on the lives of the people in the Gadsden area is beyond measure. She lived her faith every day by sharing Christ's love through music. She was frequently requested to sing at civic and church events. She was also known to grace the local community theatre stage to share her talents with the local artistic community. She also brought the love of Christ and music to the children at MeadowBrook. She directed children's choirs for many years and help found the MeadowBrook Worship Arts Academy.
Ms. Bozeman was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Luther Clyde Rule; mother, Bernice Joyce Shook Rule; and brother, Philip Henry Rule. She is survived by numerous family members and friends: Jim Bozeman of Gadsden; sons, Philip Jason Bozeman and Michael Andrew Bozeman of Gadsden; daughter, Allison Marie Simpson and son-in-law, Matthew Wayne Simpson of Waxhaw, North Carolina; grand-daughters, Mattie Grace Simpson and Maryn Kate Simpson; sister-in-law, Jane Rule; nieces, Melony Hayden and Wendy Rule; and nephew, Luther Rule.
Pallbearers will be James Hancock, Wayne Finley, Carson Pearce, Brandon Snyder, Chip Tucker, and Sam Tunstall.

I am so sorry to hear of Mary Nell's passing. I remember well what a wonderful voice she had. There were several times over the years that I called on her to sing for groups I was affiliated with and she was always a great success. As I read the obituary I was not at all surprised to see what a full and giving life she lived. Her passing has left a void but at the same time I am sure that there are lots of people who are living fuller lives because they had the fortune to have spent time with her. I am one of these.

To the family: I'm sorry for the loss of your sweet mother. Mary Nell was the most wonderful lady and voice teacher. I looked forward to going to lessons with her throughout high school. She was always positive with the biggest smile on her face, making me feel that I could be a wonderful vocalist. I will miss singing Christmas songs and "Baby Mine" from "Dumbo" that she knew was my favorite. When all of her students gathered to sing at Regency Pointe one Christmas, I knew she was so proud that she taught us to share the joy of music with others, as she did every day.

We will always have very fond memories of Mary Nell and all of her family. She was a special person. She sang and was a bridesmaid in our wedding. We saw her and Jim married and our children were very close in age. Her Daddy baptized me at Inskip. Like I said she was special and she raised a special family. She loved the little grands too. You will be missed here on earth but know you are very safe and happy now. The angels are glad to have you sing with them. Our love and prayers go to each of you as you find the strength only God can give at this time.
Love you all, Holt and Elizabeth
