Mary Jane Shaeffer Burdge, age 87, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 from a lengthy illness.

Graveside services will be at 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at Highland Cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Jon Eckstein officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park, Texas.

Mary was a servant of God. God came first in her life then her husband and family. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry Burdge, who was the love of her life and her best friend. Through their love they had 6 children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her children are Sandra Johnson and husband, Jim of Prospect, Ohio; Roger Burdge and his wife, Connie of Crestline, Ohio; Linda Spiegel and her husband, Terry of Bucyrus, Ohio; Pam Belcher and her husband, Kyle of Wichita Falls, Texas; Wendy Giles and her husband, Donnie of Wichita Falls, Texas; Angie Heckert and her husband, George of Bucyrus, Ohio and a brother, Sam Shaeffer of Pennsylvania. Mary was preceded in death by 3 of her precious grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Wilson, Kenny Wilson and Noah Heckert.

Mary loved her family and she devoted her life to them. She loved to turn her house into a home. She loved to work in the dirt, she had a green thumb and flowers seemed to bloom for her, even in the Texas heat. She also loved going to church every Sunday, she looked forward to it every week. She is now God's angel making his gardens beautiful. She is loved and will be missed greatly by her family.

A special "thank you" to our Purple Angels of Hospice of Wichita Falls, who went above and beyond taking care of our loved one, especially Sara, who always made Mom beautiful.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Wichita Falls and First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park.
