God received an angel today on June 7, 2011. Mary Agnes Hybner Barcak Burton . She was born in Shiner on August 15, 1915 to Adolph and Francis Kurtz Hybner. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Edwin J Barcak and M.S.(Stu) Burton; two brothers, Victor and Felix Hybner, Two sisters, Annie Sofka and Lilli Matula son, Robert S. Burton and son-in-law Joseph Opela. Mary is survived by her children, Cecilia Opela, James (Darlene) Barcak, Pat (Rick) Brown, Virgil (Sandra) Burton, Larry (B.J.) Burton and Wayne Burton, 15 grand children, 37 great grand children and11 great-great grand children, two brothers Philip (Grace)...

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Edwin J Barcak and M.S.(Stu) Burton; two brothers, Victor and Felix Hybner, Two sisters, Annie Sofka and Lilli Matula son, Robert S. Burton and son-in-law Joseph Opela.

Mary is survived by her children, Cecilia Opela, James (Darlene) Barcak, Pat (Rick) Brown, Virgil (Sandra) Burton, Larry (B.J.) Burton and Wayne Burton, 15 grand children, 37 great grand children and11 great-great grand children, two brothers Philip (Grace) Hybner of Lufkin, Daniel Hybner of Lake Jackson two sisters, Martha Janota and Jane Pickering both of Shiner and many, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Mary married Edwin J Barcak and resided in Shiner where they farmed and later opened a business. Edwin died in 1956 and Mary married Stu Burton and moved to Corpus Christi in 1961. They later moved to Mathis and after retirement moved to Shiner in 2005. Stu died in 2009.

Mary was a devout Catholic and member of SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, KJZT and Catholic Daughters. She was also a 30 year cancer survivor. Mary loved to garden, can and put up preserves. She was an excellent cook and baker and always had something in the oven or on the stove. She was a seamstress and avid quilter. Every member of her family down to her g-g grand children possess a hand made quilt she loveingly stitched by hand. She loved to play dominos and would drop everything when she got a call to come and play.
Mary lived her life in appreciation to God for his many blessings.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 10, 2011 from 8 am to 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 pm at Buffington Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:00 am at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. Burial will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church for the Education Endowment Fund.
