Mary Ann Powell Clark, 70, of Morganton, passed away, Friday, February 14, 2014 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese. Mrs. Clark was born in Burke County, North Carolina on July 26, 1943 to the late Corlie C. & Alma Mae Webb Powell. She was married to her husband of fifty three years, Alton Clark. She was a housekeeper with Blue Ridge health care where she retired after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God Church where she played the piano and sang with her sisters, Jean and Martha. Mrs. Clark enjoyed sewing and was an avid doll collector. Mary Ann Powell Clark, 70, of Morganton, passed away, Friday, February 14, 2014 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese.
Mrs. Clark was born in Burke County, North Carolina on July 26, 1943 to the late Corlie C. & Alma Mae Webb Powell. She was married to her husband of fifty three years, Alton Clark. She was a housekeeper with Blue Ridge health care where she retired after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God Church where she played the piano and sang with her sisters, Jean and Martha. Mrs. Clark enjoyed sewing and was an avid doll collector. She touched the hearts of many and will be greatly missed by many friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Homer Powell; three sisters, Jean Penley, Frances Powell, and Lueyone Braswell; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Clark.
Survivors include her husband, Alton Clark of Morganton; three sons, Johnny Clark, Kevin Clark & wife Kay, and David Clark & wife Tammy, all of Morganton; a daughter, Donna Shoun of Morganton; three sisters, Martha Whisnant of Morganton, Doris Mather & husband Charles of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Kathy Walker of Morganton; six grandchildren, Sam Clark, Hannah Clark, Travis Clark, Daniel Clark, Jordan Clark, all of Morganton, and Heather Williams of Wilmington; a great grandson, Talon Linn of Wilmington; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Morganton. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton.
