Mary Malavansos Daltroff was born on the 7th of August 1922, and went home to the Lord on the afternoon of the 11th of July 2011. Mary was predeceased by her parents, James and Anastasia Ipiotis; her brother Ted Ipiotis; and by her loving granddaughter, Natalie Christine Bredthauer. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Shields Daltroff; her daughter, Anastasia Malavansos Robson and her husband, Tom; and Chris Malavansos and his wife Joanie; and step children, Terry and John Daltroff. Surviving grandchildren are, Chris and Jill Malavansos, Thomas Blake Robson, Rebecca, Melissa, and Victoria Daltroff. She is also survived by T.J. and Jacob Daltroff, who are proudly serving our country in the military; and special niece, Joanna Romero.

Mary grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and moved to Houston when she first married and where her children were raised. She formed instant lifetime friendships with her Greek-American contemporaries who had also moved to Houston. With an inherent drive to succeed, Mary became one of the first women stockbrokers in Houston and served that industry for 30 years. When retired, Mary moved to Pagosa Springs, Colorado where she met and married Shields. They enjoyed retirement by traveling the world together by boat, plane, and train. Together they became "Gray Wolves," and joined their counterparts in skiing, and snow mobiling up and down the mountains of Colorado. After 20 years in Pagosa, Mary and Shields moved back to Houston to be closer to family. She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and active in the Greek community through her memberships in Philoptochos, the Daughters of Penelope, and the Hellenic Professional Society. Mary will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Honored to serve as casket bearers during the services are, Mr. Thomas Blake Robson, Mr. Chip Marosis, Dr. Jack Corbett, Dr. Nick Checkles, Mr. Fred Barton, and Mr. Jordon Cazamias.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until seven o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 14th of July, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Trisagion prayers are to commence at seven o'clock.

The funeral service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 15th of July, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3511 Yoakum Boulevard in Houston, where cathedral clergy are to officiate.

The interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Mary's honor may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 4543 Post Oak Pl., Suite 125, Houston, TX, 77027; or to the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 900 Portway Dr., Houston, TX, 77024.

May her memory be eternal.

"Dearest Nan and Family, So very sorry for your loss and praying for you as you go through this very difficult time!!! Your mom had to be a very special lady..." Angela Orlando (Houston, TX)
