Mary was born in a small town outside of San Juan, Puerto Rico and as young woman she aspired to become a seamstress for the New York Fashion Industry.
After meeting Fred a US Army Veteran (post WWII) her plans for a career were postponed and she began a family. Mary and Fred married in Bridgeport, Connecticut and moved to New York City to embark on a new adventure of a lifetime.
Mary was content to raise her four children Fred Jr, Lillian, Nancy, and Anthony in Astoria, Queens. She was kind and helped her relatives' cousin raise Gladys as her own daughter and brought her into the family. Mary was no stranger to challenges in her life. She made sacrifices and wanted all her children receive a good education in the New York Public School System. After her children graduated and were grown she decided then that it was time for her to enter into the world of work and became a Dietary Aide for the New York City Department of Education where she remained employed until her retirement.
Mary continued her interest in seamstress work making clothes and outfits for her family, close friends and pets. She was a great source of inspiration for her talents and admired most by her sisters, cousins, and family members for her good heartedness.
Her religion was a vital part of her life and as a practicing catholic she remained faithful to acts of kindness, charity, love, and forgiveness.
In her later years of retirement she was dedicated to her grandchildren: Adfred, Charles, Sunshine, Juliet, Olivia, and great grandchild Talia. She loved to travel to Florida, Puerto Rico and Westchester County New York.
The last five years of her life Mary resided at New York Rehab Center for health related issues, then hospitalized at Mt. Sinai Hospital and died peacefully on the Hospice Care Program in Queens on January 17, 2013

"Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Dios la tendrá en su Gloria y allí estará jubilosa con El Espíritu..." Jose, Lois & Nick Diaz (Lithia, FL)
