Mary Kyle DuPuis of Williamsburg, VA died peacefully on January 19, 2016 at the Williamsburg Landing where she resided for the last 8 years. She was born in Rochester, N.Y. on June 4, 1927, the youngest child of John and Katherine Kyle. She is survived by her seven children David (Lei) DuPuis of Toano, VA, Mark (Beverly) DuPuis of Marina, CA, Adrienne (Mac) Kimbrough of Bolivar, OH, Brian (Kathy) Dupuis of Moss Landing, CA, Mary Ellen DuPuis of Troutdale, OR, Kevin DuPuis of Seaside, CA and Susan (Juergen) Maurer of Eppstein, Germany. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Kyle and sister Helen Kyle Conlon.
Mary Kyle graduated from Geneseo High School where she was active in sports, scouting, and played the violin. She attended the College of William and Mary. She married the late Arthur DuPuis of Boston, MA. She had an active life as a homemaker and mother of seven children. Mary Kyle began her career for many years at Williamsburg Community Hospital. She also was the office manager for the late Dr. John Fletcher, pediatrician.
After retiring, she enjoyed traveling, bird watching, and volunteering for Elderhostel and Colonial Williamsburg at the George Tucker House. She was active in many groups including Kingspoint and Kingsmill Garden clubs, Kingsmill Book Club and Wine and Dine, and the Williamsburg Poetry Guild. She was a member of St. Bede's Parish and active in ARK and Haiti Outreach.
Viewing will be from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home on Thursday, January 21, 2016. Memorial services will be held at Woodhaven Hall at the Williamsburg Landing, at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 22, 2016, with a reception immediately afterward. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Haiti Outreach at St. Bede Catholic Church, or the American Cancer Society.
