On June 12, 2012, God called Mary M. Edwards, his good and faithful servant, to her heavenly home. She was born August 8, 1929, to Mary Victoria and Samuel Joseph Barnett, in Johnson County, AR. Mary filled her 82 years with a unique ability to love and serve others. She possessed a matchless wit and sense of humor, and was blessed with many God-given talents, cooking being one of her envied areas of expertise. On June 12, 2012, God called Mary M. Edwards, his good and faithful servant, to her heavenly home. She was born August 8, 1929, to Mary Victoria and Samuel Joseph Barnett, in Johnson County, AR. Mary filled her 82 years with a unique ability to love and serve others. She possessed a matchless wit and sense of humor, and was blessed with many God-given talents, cooking being one of her envied areas of expertise. Mary was loved by all and will be missed by her large circle of friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Aldersgate Sunday School Class, actively participated in the church's food activities serving others, was a member of Chapter AS P.E.O, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Methodist Village. She was the former Burial Association and Insurance Manager for Edwards Funeral Home.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.D. Edwards; a sister, Mildred Wheeler; two brothers, Howard "Buddy" Barnett and Luther Barnett.
She is survived by five nieces, Velma Albat of Conway; Mary Ann Plumlee of Berryville; Linda Jetton of Russellville; Melissa Carter of Springdale; and Cindy Barnett of Fort Smith; a step-daughter, Charlene Raley of Meridian, MS. She is also survived by eleven great nieces and nephews; sixteen great great nieces and nephews; three step-grandchildren and one step-great grandson.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 15, 2012, in Roebuck Chapel at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Tony Jetton, Greg Simpson, Aaron, Adam, and John Bradley, Erich Albat, Alan Plumlee, Stan Raley, Scott Raley, Bill Barron, and Daxon Edwards.
