Mary Ann (Oliver) Ellison, 68, of Norman passed away peacefully on June 3, 2014. She was born in Ponca City on December 20, 1945 to Betty Lou (Oliver) Love and James F. Oliver. Her childhood home was in Oklahoma City. She attended Arizona State University where she met and married Woodrow Ellison. Together they had a son Benjamin. She moved back to Norman in 1992 soon after retirement in 1992 from Valley National Bank in Phoenix. Mary Ann attended McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, enjoyed the singles group, and volunteered in the church office. Mary Ann (Oliver) Ellison, 68, of Norman passed away peacefully on June 3, 2014. She was born in Ponca City on December 20, 1945 to Betty Lou (Oliver) Love and James F. Oliver. Her childhood home was in Oklahoma City. She attended Arizona State University where she met and married Woodrow Ellison. Together they had a son Benjamin. She moved back to Norman in 1992 soon after retirement in 1992 from Valley National Bank in Phoenix.
Mary Ann attended McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, enjoyed the singles group, and volunteered in the church office.
Mary Ann sang with Sweet Adelines and became a leader in local Multiple Sclerosis support groups. She also enjoyed swimming at the Norman YMCA.
Mary Ann was voted The Queen of Hearts one Valentine's Day at her home at Rambling Oaks in Norman. She could indeed steal your heart with her smile, courage, and her determination. She inspired many by living life with gratitude, grace, and a positive attitude in spite of her many health challenges.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father, James F. Oliver.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Love and step-father Tom of Norman; son, Benjamin and wife Maya and granddaughters Camille and Zoe of Phoenix; brothers Jim Oliver and wife Polly of Norman, Charles Oliver of Edmond; sister, Susan Sipe of Dallas and many nieces and nephews.
The family has suggested, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the McFarlin Memorial United Memorial Church or a charity of choice.
A memorial service celebrating Mary Ann's life will be 1:00p.m. Friday, June 6th at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Primrose Funeral Service, www.primrosefuneralservice.com.
