MARY ANN GANTER Mary Ann Ganter passed away Saturday March 26, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born November 26, 1927, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to George and Marie (Graner) Brecht. She graduated from South Hills High School in Pittsburg in 1946. On June 10, 1950, she married her soul mate, Robert Karl Ganter, Jr. They moved from Pennsylvania to West Texas in 1954. The couple also spent some of their happiest years, as well as many family vacations, in Morehead City, North Carolina, where Robert was stationed for his services in the Marine Corps. Mary Ann Ganter passed away Saturday March 26, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born November 26, 1927, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to George and Marie (Graner) Brecht. She graduated from South Hills High School in Pittsburg in 1946. On June 10, 1950, she married her soul mate, Robert Karl Ganter, Jr. They moved from Pennsylvania to West Texas in 1954. The couple also spent some of their happiest years, as well as many family vacations, in Morehead City, North Carolina, where Robert was stationed for his services in the Marine Corps. Mary Ann worked as a secretary and as an interior decorator, as well as a mother to three children. She loved to garden, play bridge, and golf with her husband and friends. Mary Ann lived in Odessa until June 2010, when she and Bob moved to Lake Brownwood.
She was survived by many members of her loving family: her husband, Robert Karl Ganter Jr. of Lake Brownwood, her three children, Gary Robert Ganter and his wife Sharon of Odessa TX, her daughter, Barbara Wagon and her husband Mark of Lubbock, and daughter, Debra Ganter of Denver, CO, her brother, Robert Brecht of Pittsburg PA, her grandchildren, Robert K. III, Jackson, Kristofer, and Kathryn Ganter, and Matthew and Michael Wagnon.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Regency Hospital, as well as Dr. J. Naidu and Irene Tienney for their care and compassion during her last days.
A memorial mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday March 31, 2011, at St Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church with Monsignor James Bridges officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Family Services.
