Born in Tempe,Arizona on 10/04/1936. A proud Native Tempean who grew up in the humble community of Mickey Mouse Bario located at the base of A mountain next to Sun Devil Stadium.She learned how to swim and fish along the Salt River now called Rio Salado. She also enjoyed climbing A mountain with friends and playing softball in a dirt lot next to her humble home. Her friends and family recognized her talent for softball at a young age. She played on the best teams in the valley and signed a pro softball contract with the Arizona Ramblers. Born in Tempe,Arizona on 10/04/1936. A proud Native Tempean who grew up in the humble community of Mickey Mouse Bario located at the base of A mountain next to Sun Devil Stadium.She learned how to swim and fish along the Salt River now called Rio Salado. She also enjoyed climbing A mountain with friends and playing softball in a dirt lot next to her humble home. Her friends and family recognized her talent for softball at a young age. She played on the best teams in the valley and signed a pro softball contract with the Arizona Ramblers. She was blessed with speed and accuracy as a pitcher with the Ramblers and consistently pitched no hitters. Her accolades on the field propelled her into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame. She married Carlos Carias in the spring of 1963 and gave birth to Richard Carias June 8,1964. Her marriage was brief only 2 years and being a single parent she worked a myriad of jobs from Machinest - Custodial- to her favorite job as Security Guard for Tempe High School. She alway's ensured that Rick had a Home and balanced nutritional diet. Her unconditional Love for her son and support for Atheletics allowed for Rick to participate in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track and Field where at Tempe High Her Alma Mater where she graduated,he became All-State All-American in Football. Her son Rick was a Blue Chip and top 50 recruits in the country in 1982 and picked Arizona State over UCLA, Nebraska, University of Arizona, USC, and many other Division 1 Schools. Rick wore #13 at Arizona State and was on the Fiesta Bowl Championship team in 1983 who beat the Oklahoma Sooners. Mary has and alway's will be proud of her son and all of his accolades on and off the Atheletic fields. Mary recently enjoyed being Ricks Campaign Manager during his run for Mayor of Tempe. His campaign focused on sustainability solar energy and raising money via recycling program to purchase food for St Mary's food bank to feed area Homeless and Needy Families. Mary firmly believed in helping those who were less fortunate and believed in preserving our natural resources. Mary recently purchased Solar Water heater and Solar Panels for the roof on her Home in Tempe. She was very proud to be a Home Owner in Tempe and to own her Home outright with no mortgage. Mary recently attended dialysis at Davita Tempe where she enjoyed the staff and patients as "family." Mary is survived by her son Rick Carias, Sister Angie Ross, Niece Vicky Ross, Niece Lydia Best Friend Carol Snell daughter Robin Snell. Mary is asking instead of flowers if money or non-perishable food be sent to her sons Charity non-profit organization "Vision Horizon" in care of Rick Carias 1309 W.16TH ST.
