Mary was born on November 28, 1921 in Denver, Colorado, to Mary Catherine and Louis Arthur Crider, the first of their four daughters. She moved to the Kansas City area with her parents as a small child, where she lived the remainder of her life. She received her education at Redemptorist Fathers elementary and high schools. On June 12, 1943, she married Fred C. Lodde, Jr., who preceded her in death in 1999. Mary also joins in heaven her parents, her three younger sisters, and her beloved dogs, Lady, Misha, and Lucy.
Mary is survived by her family. Daughters - Donna Rybowicz and her husband Jim, Sharon Trompeter and her husband Gerald, and Theresa Lodde. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren - Jeffrey Trompeter, his wife Anissa, and their children, Brandon, Lindsay, and Andrew; Karen Gross and her husband Chris; Matthew Rybowicz, his wife Mary Beth, and their children Lauren, Emily, and Benjamin; and Catherine Rybowicz.
Mary loved movies, theatre, animals, and all the beauty of nature in every season. But most of all, Mary loved her family, and she devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home for us all. She was a wonderful cook, gardener, and baker. There were always homemade cookies in the kitchen, waiting for grandchildren – if Grandpa didn't get to them first! And we will never forget her special birthday cakes, baked lovingly from scratch, for us all on our special days. To her daughters, she was a source of loving and honest advice throughout our lives. She was the beacon of light that both drew us to her for help and confidence, and guided us on our way in life. She taught us many skills, but mostly, she taught us to be strong women, the immense value of faith and family, and the importance of finding strength in unconditional love, that never fails. Mary loved and valued her life-long Catholic faith, with deep devotion to our Blessed Mother, and she prayed her rosary daily.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Catholic Community Hospice and Beautiful Savior Home for their wonderful care of Mom in her final weeks with us.
We will always love and treasure you, Mom.
