Funeral Services for Mary Elizabeth Carter McLean will be held 10am, Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh. The Rev. Richard Humphries will officiate. Mary was a graduate of Welsh High School and McNeese State College with a BS degree in Nursing. She was a surgical and public health nurse for twenty-eight years.
Mary and her husband, Robert lived in Lake Charles until their relocation to Grenada, MS. After his death, she moved to Lafayette to be near friends and relatives. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Welsh and transferred her membership to Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette.
Mary is survived by her brother, William N. Carter Jr. of Jennings; cousins, Charles Ray Sheumaker of Lake Charles, James Sheumaker of Carlyss and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Nicholas Carter Sr. and Zola Mabel Sheumaker Carter; her husband, Robert S. McLean; sisters, Annabelle Carter Hiestand and Alice Louise Carter Long.
