Mrs. Nears was born on July 26, 1922, in Wedowee, Ala. She was a housewife and mother who loved her family dearly. She had been a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church since 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Howard Nears Sr.; parents, Henry Milford Bradley and Charlotte Kitchens Bradley; eight sisters and one brother.
She is survived by sons, Joe (Sharon Sue) Nears, Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Henry Marcus (Mary Lee) Nears, Smith Point, Texas; daughter, Anna Marie Nears (William Charles) Stevens, New Orleans, La.; grandchildren, Jo Anna Sampson, Hammond, La., Charles Daniel Stevens, New Orleans, La., Jessica Lee Stanley, New Diana, Texas, Catherine Marie Kump, Mt. Vernon, Texas, and Sandi Jo Duncan, Mt. Pleasant, Texas; brother-in-law, Kermit Hanson, Wedowee; sisters, Maurice Lee, Wedowee, Hilda Gittings, Wedowee.
Pallbearers will be Gary Kump, Randall Stanley, Brad Duncan, Chuck Stevens, Charles Stevens and Curtis Sampson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Caden Kump and Joe Stanley.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Collier-Butler.
