Mary Rilla Pitts passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born on November 28, 1921 in Dadeville, Alabama to the late Jessie Naomi Pippin Milner and Robert Jefferson Milner. Other than her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Reverend Roland Leon Pitts, her daughter, Carolyn Pitts Brand, and great granddaughter, Scarlett Renee Fountain.
Mrs. Pitts is survived by her four children: James Larry Pitts of Columbus, Georgia; Linda Pitts Barnhill of Braselton, Georgia; Stephen Rance Pitts of Signal Mountain, Tennessee; and Lisa Renae Fountain of Columbus, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Pitts' life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 4:00PM with family receiving friends from 3:00PM until time of the service at Gentian Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. Striffler-Hamby of Columbus is in charge of arrangements.
